Imad Wasim returns to cricket for T20 World Cup

Seasoned all-rounder Imad Wasim announced his decision to come out of retirement on Saturday, indicating his readiness to once again represent the Pakistan cricket team. He expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their trust and affirmed his dedication to utilizing his skills for Pakistan’s success in cricket tournaments.

The revival of Imad Wasim’s cricketing career follows extensive discussions with key figures in the national cricketing setup. Sources disclosed that after the Pakistan Super League (PSL) concluded, national T20 team captain Shaheen Shah Afridi initiated talks with Imad, emphasizing his essential role in the team. Additionally, National Team Chief Selector Wahab Riaz personally congratulated Imad for his outstanding performance in the PSL.

Imad’s exceptional display for Islamabad United, both batting and bowling, particularly in the crucial final matches, showcased his prowess as an all-rounder. His standout performance, including a five-wicket haul in the final, earned him the Player of the Match accolade.

Despite receiving significant support and encouragement from peers and selectors, Imad initially hesitated, expressing the need to consult with family and close confidants before making a final decision.
