PIA suspends crew member for carrying wrong passport to Toronto

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) cabin crew member flying from Lahore to Canada was suspended after being briefly detained by customs officials in Toronto for possessing the passport of an unrelated individual.

Hina Sani, along with two other crew members from flight PK-789, was initially detained but later released after investigations. The PIA management subsequently suspended Ms. Sani and pledged to take additional measures following the outcome of the Canadian customs’ inquiry.

Carrying someone else’s passport while traveling internationally violates international law. PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan stated that the airline was coordinating with Canadian authorities and would support their investigation.

The suspended crew member will face further disciplinary and legal actions based on the findings of the Canadian inquiry. The three released female crew members are scheduled to return to Pakistan on Saturday.
