Anticipation builds for possible same-day Eid celebration worldwide

As several nations worldwide opt to mark Eidul Fitr on Wednesday due to the absence of the crescent sighting on Monday, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will convene in Islamabad today to search for the Shawwal crescent, potentially leading to a synchronized Eid celebration across the Muslim globe.

Media reports from Gulf-based newspapers indicate that in addition to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait will observe Eid tomorrow. Similarly, Australia has declared Wednesday as the day for Eid celebrations.

Meanwhile, the central moon-sighting authority will gather on the roof of the Federal Secretariat’s Kohsar Block in Islamabad, while zonal and district Ruet-i-Hilal committees will hold simultaneous meetings at their respective headquarters.

Should the committee succeed in spotting the new moon today, Pakistan will join the global Eid festivities.
