Flight cancelations and flood alerts issued across UAE due to severe thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in the UAE have led to flight disruptions nationwide, as airlines reported on Tuesday. The adverse weather conditions caused flooding, submerged roads, and prompted weather warnings across the Emirates.

Dubai’s budget airline flydubai stated that the weather impacted flight schedules at Dubai International (DXB), resulting in cancellations and delays. Dubai International Airport confirmed significant disruptions, with operations temporarily suspended and a number of flights canceled and diverted.

Major flooding on access roads to the airport has compounded travel challenges. The UAE’s Roads Transport Authority (RTA) advised using alternative routes and the Dubai Metro due to expected delays.

The inclement weather is forecasted to persist into Wednesday morning, with a second wave expected on Tuesday evening, according to the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
