Durefishan Saleem reveals why love marriage isn’t for her

During a recent appearance on Nida Yasir’s morning show, television personality Durefishan Saleem shared her perspective on the debate between love marriages and arranged marriages. Emphasizing her preference for arranged marriages, the Ishq Murshid actor expressed that they offer more depth and surprises for couples embarking on their journey together.

According to Durefishan, love marriages often lack the charm of courtship. She declared, “In love marriages, there is no element of wooing at all,” and suggested that arranged marriages provide a continuous sense of discovery, allowing couples to get to know each other better over time. She further added, “The guy never takes it seriously because he just tells himself, ‘I’ve got her now.’”

Contrary to societal norms that romanticize love marriages, Durefishan argued that they frequently lead to disappointment due to the absence of novelty. She remarked, “[If you are in a love marriage], you know each other so well that there is nothing left to discover about the other person!”

Durefishan is a busy actress with a thriving career. Hailing from Lahore and the daughter of producer-director Saleem ul Hassan, she made her debut in Dil Ruba and went on to feature in popular dramas like Pardes and Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi. Her latest venture is the lead role in Ishq Murshid, where she portrays Shibra, a character embodying strength and traditional values.
