UK Ministry of Defence hacked by China

The UK Ministry of Defence fell victim to a cyber attack on Tuesday, sparking urgent investigations into the breach.

Sky News reports that the attack, consisting of two or three hacking attempts, targeted ministry personnel, with suspicions pointing towards China, though official confirmation is pending.

Shockingly, sensitive data including bank details and employee names, encompassing veterans and current staff, have allegedly been compromised. However, authorities assure that salary payments remain unaffected.

The breach appears isolated from the main MoD network, tied instead to a contracted system which has since been taken offline for scrutiny.

With the ministry working tirelessly over the past 72 hours to gauge the severity of the situation, concerns are mounting over potential ramifications for international intelligence cooperation, especially among countries with strained relations with China.
