Renowned actor Talat Hussain passes away at 83

Renowned actor Talat Hussain, known for his illustrious career spanning TV, stage, and international films, has passed away at the age of 83 in Karachi after battling a prolonged illness.

The news was confirmed by state broadcaster PTV and the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi President Ahmed Shah. Hussain, born on September 18, 1940, had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.

Shah praised Hussain’s deep connection with ACP and lauded his contributions to the arts, mentioning his prestigious awards, including the Sitara-i-Imtiaz and the Pride of Performance.

Hussain’s legacy includes iconic dramas like Bandish, Karwaan, and Hawain, as well as notable films such as Chiragh Jalta Raha and Gumnaam.

His talent also extended to international projects, earning him accolades like the Amanda Award for the Norwegian film Import-Eksport in 2006.
