PAK vs USA: Babar Azam’s shocking blame game leaves fans outraged

In a surprising turn of events at the PAK vs USA T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan faced an unexpected defeat against the USA in a super over clash on Wednesday in Dallas. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, did not hold back in his post-match conference, attributing the loss to the bowlers’ missed opportunities, especially during the powerplay and middle overs.

Following the match, Azam expressed his disappointment with the performance of his bowlers, specifically targeting the spinners for their inability to secure crucial wickets. Shadab Khan finished with figures of 0/27 in his four overs, while Iftikhar Ahmed conceded 10 runs in the only over he bowled. The captain also pointed out the shortcomings of the top-order batsmen.

“In the first six overs with the bat, we didn’t capitalize properly. We built some momentum after that but lost back-to-back wickets. In the middle overs, as a batsman, you have to step up and build a partnership. There was a little bit of moisture on the pitch early on, and it was a bit two-paced, but this is not an excuse. As professionals, we need to assess the conditions. In the first six overs, I didn’t capitalize properly,” Babar Azam admitted.

Azam further criticized the bowling attack, stating, “We weren’t up to the mark with the ball in the first six overs. As usual, we aren’t taking wickets in the first six overs, and then in the middle, our spinner is not taking wickets, so this cost us. In the end, we came back but couldn’t finish well.”

Babar Azam criticized the bowlers, especially the spinners for Pakistan’s loss in the PAK vs USA T20 World Cup. By pinpointing missed opportunities and lack of wicket-taking, he absolved himself and the batsmen of responsibility. This tactic shifted blame and scrutiny away from other potential shortcomings in the team’s performance.
