Fawad Khan faces backlash for working with unknown Bollywood actress
Former Pakistani actress Mishi Khan has publicly criticized acclaimed actor Fawad Khan for his decision to work with Indian actress Vaani Kapoor in their upcoming film Abir Gulal.
The film, which is currently being shot in London and surrounding areas, is expected to wrap up production by November, with a release planned for late 2025 or early 2026.
Mishi Khan took to Instagram to express her discontent with Fawad’s choice, stating it is “unfortunate” that the actor continues to reject offers to work with top-tier Pakistani actresses while opting to collaborate with a relatively lesser-known Indian star. Her remarks come amidst growing excitement for the film among fans.
Fawad Khan, who made his Bollywood debut with Khoobsurat in 2014, last appeared in the Indian film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016. His career in Bollywood was put on hold after heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan led to an unofficial ban on Pakistani artists working in India.
The first look of Abir Gulal has already been released, adding to the anticipation for the film. An international entertainment publication confirmed that the film is being shot at various locations in and around London.
