The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan as the new captain and batter Agha Salman as vice-captain of the national cricket team for white-ball formats, the board announced on Saturday.
This decision follows Babar Azam’s recent departure from the role of captain for both One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals (T20Is).
Azam revealed his resignation on October 2 through a post on social media platform X, expressing his desire to concentrate more on his individual performance as a player.
Following Azam’s resignation, the PCB’s national selection committee was tasked with appointing the next leaders for the white-ball squad.
Addressing media in Lahore, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed Rizwan and Salman’s appointments, entrusting them with leadership responsibilities in ODIs and T20Is.
