Pakistan calls for UK probe into heckling of Qazi Faez Isa
The Pakistan High Commission in the United Kingdom (UK) has formally lodged a complaint regarding an incident last week in which former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa was heckled by protesters outside the Middle Temple Inn.
According to sources, the complaint was dispatched through diplomatic channels to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) just one day after the event occurred.
The incident took place on Tuesday when demonstrators from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party confronted Qazi Faez Isa as he was leaving the Middle Temple in a diplomatic vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that some protesters aggressively banged on the windows of his car.
In the aftermath, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that efforts would be made to identify the individuals responsible and that appropriate action would be taken against them.
While sources indicated that the FCDO has acknowledged receipt of the complaint and is actively investigating the matter, there has been no official confirmation from UK authorities regarding the status of the investigation.
Furthermore, it was noted that the complaint was elevated through diplomatic channels after Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called for decisive action against the perpetrators.
The Middle Temple is situated in the City of London, which falls under the jurisdiction of the City of London Police, distinguishing it from the Metropolitan Police, which governs other areas of the UK capital.
